11 Leading Sectors of Local Development: the Bingöl Province Example

Imbalances based on the differences between the existing regions in a country are due to structural differences in socio-economic, geographical and climatic conditions of these countries. The realization of a national development by eliminating the imbalances is parallel to the realization of politics in accordance with the realist and divisional spirit that the economic administrations will implement. In Turkey, where inter-regional imbalances are in serious proportions, in the beginning of the socio-economic causes of the recession, the country has different geographical structures and climatic conditions, as well as the difficulties in health and education, low employment, the lack of human capital and comes to dominate the traditional agricultural economy applied in some areas. In this context, the study consists of two main parts. While the socio-economic status of Bingöl is discussed in the first part, the sectoral structure of the province is taken up in the second part. Finally, the study is completed with the conclusions and recommendations.
